About
Get To Know Your Coach

I’m Spencer Bomboir, and I’ve spent my life immersed in the game of hockey. I was fortunate to train under elite coaches who worked with Pro, WHL, and Junior A goaltenders throughout my hockey career. These experiences shaped my understanding of the game and taught me the importance of mastering technique and fundamentals.
As a player, I competed at the U18 AAA level, followed by Junior B while attending University. Throughout this time I was also involved as a goalie coach for numerous goaltender development companies. But, my true passion lies in helping the next generation of goaltenders achieve their potential.
I’m not just a coach—I’m a student of the game, constantly learning and adapting to bring the best insights to my clients. Whether you’re just starting out or striving to take your game to the next level, I’m here to provide expert guidance and support to help you succeed between the pipes.
FAQs
How does your video analysis coaching work?
It’s pretty simple. You will submit your game or practice footage over to me. This can be as easy as providing a link to platforms like LiveBarn, HomeTeam or Youtube. Alternatively, if you take your own footage, I will work with you to get access to those files.
After that, I’ll analyze the video, identify areas for improvement, and provide a detailed breakdown along with actionable feedback to help you refine your skills. The breakdown can be provided as a video or in a written document. We can also schedule a video call to review the footage, which allows for a more interactive experience.
Who is this coaching service for?
This service is designed for goaltenders of all ages and skill levels—from beginners to advanced players. It’s also a great resource for parents and coaches looking for professional input to develop training plans for their young goaltenders.
Throughout my career, I did not have access to any on-ice goaltender coaching throughout the winter, so a service like this is a great way to receive coaching and feedback, regardless of where you are.
What types of footage should I submit?
What are the benefits of receiving video coaching?
A video coaching service offers personalized, in-depth feedback that you can’t always get during team practices or games. By analyzing your footage, I can focus on the finer details of your technique, positioning, and decision-making, providing insights you might not notice on your own. This method allows you to review and learn at your own pace, ensuring you fully understand the improvements needed. Plus, it’s accessible from anywhere, making it easy to get professional coaching regardless of your location or schedule.
What is your background in hockey?
I started playing goalie when I was 7 years old, and played competitively until I finished Junior Hockey (U20). I would play AA hockey in Yorkton each winter, and then play AAA hockey in Saskatoon each summer for Sask-Can. My dedication for the game started at a very young age, and continued as I grew up.
I then played three seasons of AAA Midget (U18) hockey for my hometown team the Yorkton Harvest (now, the Yorkton Maulers). This included a hectic schedule of games and travel, but was an incredibly rewarding experience and made lifelong friends in the process.
Each summer, I also attended week-long goalie training camps from companies like GDI and World Pro Goaltending, where I was able to study and train under coaches from the MJHL, SJHL, AJHL, WHL and professional teams.
I was fortunate enough over the years to also attend various MJHL, SJHL and WHL training camps, including 2 years of tryouts for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
After high school, I moved to Saskatoon to attend University to obtain a Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan. During this time, I also played hockey at the Junior B level for the Saskatoon Westleys of the PJHL. This was a great way to continue playing competitive hockey while earning my degree.
After University, I played a few seasons of Senior Hockey and currently play Recreationally to get on the ice and (try to) stay in shape.
