C.L. Hundseth (Cec)

CEO

Hundseth Power Line Construction (HPL) was founded in 1976 by C.L. Hundseth under the name Hundseth Construction. With 25 years of power line experience, Cec saw an opportunity to fill a niche on the Saskatchewan contractor scene. It was a wise move on his part as his vision for the future of the power line industry has come to fruition. Now managed together with his son Todd, HPL helps meet the electrical needs of the province of Saskatchewan.

Todd Hundseth

President

As the company’s’ President, Todd creates the vision for the organization by working with the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to plan and implement the short- and long-term strategic goals of the organization. He ensures that the overall operations of the organization support HPL in meeting these strategic plans.

Todd graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with degrees in both Economics and Administration. He is a recognized Saskatchewan Journeymen Lineman and began working full-time at HPL in 1980. His experience includes holding various crew level roles and then more senior management positions. Some of his previous construction experience includes construction and maintenance experience on Transmission, substation/switching station and distribution systems. Todd was appointed President in 2020.

Todd is an active member of the the Central Line Contractors Association (CLCA) and a board member of the Saskatchewan Common Ground Alliance (SCGA).

Dean Mozdzen

Vice President Operations

Dean provides strategic leadership for all aspects of field operations & construction, and as a member of the executive team he drives business engagement and customer satisfaction.
Dean has been a part of the utility industry for over thirty years in Saskatchewan. He is a red seal Power Line Technician (PLT) Journeyman since the early nineties, Dean also earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation in 2011. This experience and education accompany many other trade and business certifications.
Throughout his career Dean has had increasingly senior roles in generation, transmission, and distribution operations & construction, business transformation initiatives, and leadership. Joining the company in 2020, Dean has been focused on driving business transformation to position HPL for growth as well as the increasing needs of our existing clients.
Dean enjoys time with family, friends, and the outdoors along with a passion for the utility industry. Utilizing that industry knowledge and experience, Dean is a member of the Board of Directors for the First Nations Power Authority (FNPA).

Neil Johnston

Vice President Business Services

Neil is responsible for the internal and external support functions within Hundseth Powerline Construction in Western Canada, leading administrative functions, providing guidance and support to all operating divisions, departments, and lines of business. He is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of Hundseth support groups and its subsidiary companies.
Neil has been a part of the power line industry for 40 years. He is a Red Seal Journeyman Power Line Technician with a variety of industry and managerial certificates including his Masters in Process Re-engineering from Dr. Michael Hammer.
Although new to Hundseth, Neil has 40 years of industry experience starting from a member of a crew right through to Vice President of Operations. He has been involved with a variety of major Transmission & Distribution construction projects over the years including a variety of Live Line Barehand projects in Saskatchewan.
Neil’s previous experience also includes his involvement in 2 major process improvement projects, a 3-year design and implementation of SAP at SaskPower along with a 3-year process improvement re-design at SaskPower called the Service Delivery Renewal Project.

Neil has been on the Saskatchewan Power Line Curriculum Board for approximately 15 years and had once sat as the chairman of the Power Line Trade board for 10 years. He is also a Board member and Chair of Safe Saskatchewan for 7 years.

Amanda Krenbrink

Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Training

In her role, Amanda is responsible for developing strategies to improve Hundseth’s overall Health and Safety performance in its drive towards zero workplace injuries. Amanda is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all Health, Safety, Environment and Training programs for the corporation while providing technical and administrative direction on all decisions.
Amanda joined HPL in June of 2021, and brings with her over 16 years of Health, Safety, Environment and Training experience in the Utility Industry.
Amanda holds a valid CRSP and NCSO designation, a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Certificate in Project Management, and ISO Internal Auditor Certificate.

Carla Bowler

Director, People and Organizational Culture

Carla provides strategic leadership and direction for all HPL and subsidiaries in all areas of Human Resources (Talent Acquisition, Workforce and Succession Planning, Learning and Development, Employee Relations, Communications, Engagement, Compensation, Payroll and Benefits and Policy development)
Carla joined HPL in April of 2018 as Human Resources Manager and was appointed Director in May of 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the University of Manitoba and received her Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR) designation in 2011.
In her current role, Carla provides support to the business through the development and implementation of long-term comprehensive people practices and Human Resources strategies, programs and initiatives that will meet the strategic needs of HPL and its subsidiaries.
She is also an active member of the CPHR- SK association, annually participating in the mentorship program and just recently held the position of Condo Board President for a local Condo Association in Saskatoon.

Todd (Nick) Ross

Saskatoon Operations Manager

With almost four decades of powerline industry experience under his belt, Nick provides direction, leadership, and support to HPL crews, construction, RPL, and 4 party turnkey operations for Hundseth. His responsibilities also include being directly involved in the tender process for securing construction projects as well as unit-based contracts at Hundseth. He also maintains a direct working relationship with SaskPower Managers, Engineering, and Business Management teams.

Nick joined HPL in May of 1985 as a laborer/operator on a gas construction crew for 3 years. In 1988 he took a hiatus to further his education (working the summers for HPL) and returned full time in May of 1992. Since then, he has held the titles of Forman, General Foreman, Project Manager for SaskPower Rural Distribution Underground Project, and currently Operations Manager.

An alumnus of SAIT class of 1992, Nick holds a Diploma in Mechanical engineering as well as Aeronautical Engineering. In 1996 he obtained his Journeyman Powerline Technician certification and has since then, taken courses in Safety Excellence Leadership, Train the On-the-Job Trainer, and Safety Auditor.

In his current role, he provides support to all aspects of the business related to crew compliments, manpower, equipment, shop support, safety, and project management. He also serves on Hundseth’s social committee, organizing a yearly company golf tournament.

Myles Derby

Regina Operations Manager

Myles is the Regina Operation Manager and oversees work completed in the Rural (Regina) Power Line Construction Agreements for HPL. He is also responsible for the efficient and productive completion of projects within this same area. Working with the President and Operations team, Myles ensures that the strategic vision and key performance indicators of the organization are met within the region(s) of his responsibility.
Myles joined HPL in 2011 and brings over 35 years of power line experience with him to each and every project he oversees.
Myles is a recognized Saskatchewan Red Seal Journeyman Power Line Technician and is both current and competent in all related training and certifications. In addition to completing work for SaskPower, Myles has also work in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Mike Schlamp

Regina Assistant Operations Manager

Michael joined HPL in 2013 having worked in different roles within the powerline construction industry growing through the ranks from apprentice to foreman. In his current role, he brings to bear his varied work experience within the industry in ensuring smooth flow of HPLs Regina operations, the 4-party service contract as well as providing support towards different aspects of the company’s bidding and tender processes.

As an Assistant Operations Manager Michael has played major roles on projects such as Overhead & underground construction installations, New 4 party subdivision installations, 4 party service installations, Duct bank projects, Downtown feeder Cable installations, private streetlighting projects among many others.

A certified Power Line Journeyman, he also holds a Diploma in Business Administration and has attended trainings in leadership and OHC.

Richard Pauls

Saskatoon Assistant Operations Manager

Richard joined Hundseth in 2004. In his current role, he provides operational expertise and leadership ensuring smooth flow of HPLs Saskatoon operations. This includes but is not limited to 4-party service contract as well as providing support towards different aspects of the company’s bidding and tender processes.

Richard is a certified Powerline Journeyman and has attend multiple trainings such as but not limited to Supervisory training, Safety auditor and Safety excellence.

Kelly Herman

Assistant Construction Manager

Kelly has recently been promoted to this position, and is responsible for the planning, execution and overall performance on tendered project work. He specially works with the construction crews by spending time in the field coaching the staff on safety practices, solid work procedures and overall crew efficiencies.
Kelly has worked within the power line construction industry for over 24 years and has progressed from entry level to senior level management positions throughout his career, including previous experience in managing a spread contract. Kelly has experience working in both the transmission and distribution side of the trade and is well versed in how to oversee projects in both areas.
Kelly is current and competent in all Power Line Industry training and has been a Journeyman for over 15 years. He joined Hundseth in 2018 as a Crew Foreman, generally working with a crew of seven to ten people.

Al Bertsch

Telecommunications Manager

Allan joined HPL in April 2013 as our Communications Project Manager and is responsible for the overall performance of HPL’s Telecommunication division which currently employs directly about 21 full-time employees.
Allan joined HPL following his successfully 33-year career with SaskTel in both field construction and Splicing.
In his current role of Telecommunications Manager, Allan is responsible for the management of the SaskTel contracts in Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert and surrounding area. He also manages our Provincial splicing contract.

Rob Thomson

Assistant Manager Telecommunications

Rob works in the Telecommunications Division within HPL is responsible for overseeing all work completed within the Prince Albert and surrounding area.
Rob Joined HPL in May of 2018 as Project Manager and was appointed Assistant Manager Telecommunications in May of 2021. He holds a Business Management Diploma from Lethbridge College.
In his current role, Rob provides leadership and coaching to the crews throughout the planning and execution of all telecommunications work within his area. He ensures that the work completed by the crews meets all customer expectations and project timelines.
He is also an Active Sports and Rec Board Member for his home community, participating in coaching and policy implementation to better the youth and members through various activities. He also spent a few years in the golf industry (CPGA) as an Assistant Teaching Professional.

Bill Jonsson

Special Projects Manager

In his role, Bill is pivotal in providing leadership and management of special projects and private tender work taken on by HPL. He has over 40 years of power line construction experience, 10 years of which has been specifically with HPL. Prior to HPL, Bill managed another private contractor business in Saskatchewan called Thompson-Jonsson Trenching for 17 years, and proudly graduated from Nutana Collegiate, a local Saskatoon high school.

Trevor Snider

Safety and Training Manager

In this position, Trevor advises and provides safety support to employees in their day-to-day work activities.
Trevor joined HPL in September of 2013 as the Safety and Training Manager after a career as an Electrician and Safety Coordinator at SaskPower for 35 years.
Trevor enhances safety in the company by the development, implementation, application of policies, procedures, and safety practices. He also provides necessary training, leadership, organization and direction to meet the company’s goal of zero accidents and a safer, healthier work environment.
He holds a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
Trevor is also an active member on two Saskatchewan based boards; He is a director on both the Heavy Construction Safety Association of Saskatchewan and CDP; an independent life-style complex for seniors.
